Another Christmas will soon be upon us; a time of reflecting on the accomplishments and events of this past year. And as we begin to shift our focus onto family and friends, please allow me just a moment to thank you for your involvement with IAS in 2012 on behalf of those whom you may never meet.
Their names and faces you have seen throughout the year in Snapshot, and because of your assistance you have helped them start small businesses in Ghana, drilled wells for them in Sudan, you have snatched lives from the jaws of death in our Sudanese medical clinic, and you have helped deliver relief to famine victims once again in the horn of Africa.
Along with our successes experienced together with you, we have also endured pain as well. Our kidnapped staff members in Somalia continue to demonstrate to all of us a tangible meaning of the word “sacrifice.”
In order to help you catch a better glimpse of just how significant your gifts to IAS have been, please consider going to www.ias-intl.org/world_download.php and reviewing our organizational annual report which provides detailed information regarding our programming efforts.
As family begins to arrive for holiday gatherings, and as work slows to allow for the celebration of the season and time with those you love, I would also like to ask you to consider making a special year-end, tax-deductible Christmas contribution to IAS America. As many in this economy continue to struggle, I realize that such a gift to IAS might be a major sacrifice for you this year. As your gift helps IAS and IAS programming in the developing world, I am also hopeful that the added year-end tax benefit this gift might provide will be a blessing to you as well.
Not only is a Christmas gift to IAS America a worthy investment into the lives of the world’s poor, but it is also a gift which may reduce your taxable income as a charitable deduction. Please keep in mind, in accordance with IRS guidelines, your check or online donation must be postmarked or submitted prior to January 1 in order for your gift to qualify for a 2012 tax deduction.
On behalf of everyone in the International IAS family, I would like to thank you for your partnership with us in 2012. I look forward to a wonderful new year of service together with each of you in 2013. Merry Christmas – let heaven and nature sing, our Lord has come!
In gratitude –
